Project Detail : | The government of Kenya through Kenya-based French solar firm Alten Africa has selected renewable energy firm Voltalia to construct solar power plant in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county.
The solar plant will have a capacity of 40 MW, accounting for two percent of the country’s total capacity. The company will carry out construction, operation and maintenance service on the plant.
The solar project will come up over 100 ha of land and have over 1,61,000 monocrystalline panels set into solar single-axis trackers. Once completed, around 123.6 GWh of clean electricity will be fed every year into the electric network to meet the annual energy consumption needs of over 8,24,000 Kenyans.
The project is scheduled for completion in March 2020. It will be Alten Africa’s first utility scale project in Kenya and one of the largest solar power stations in East Africa. |
