| Project Detail : | The state government has passed an order to form a new circle of the public works department (PWD) in Avinashi to execute Athikadavu-Avinashi irrigation, groundwater recharge and drinking water supply scheme The announcement came on July 10, after the government issued administrative sanction order to the Rs 1,652-crore project, which is aimed to feed and fill the drought-affected tanks and ponds in Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode districts Around 2tmc of water is likely to be pumped from Kalingarayan Anicut near Bhavani of Erode district, and flown through pipelines to fill 32 PWD tanks, 42 panchayat union tanks and 971 ponds in those three districts |
