| Project Detail : | South Western Railway (SWR) has commissioned 999 kW (around one MW) capacity rooftop solar power plant at Hubballi carriage repair workshop With this commissioning Hubballi workshop has become the first location on the Indian Railways where one MW solar rooftop module has been commissioned at a single location other than station Apart from this, roller bearing cleaning plant, new shed for material storage were also inaugurated Around 60 percent of the power requirements of the Hubballi workshop will now be met through solar plant, this will reduce carbon dioxide emission by 1,200 tonne. The plant will generate 15 lakh kW power annually, due to this SWR is expected to save Rs 24 lakh per annum SWR has inked a pact with Renew Solar Energy for the power supply. In addition there was no cost incurred by the company for installation, operation and maintenance of the solar plant for 25 years Net-metering feature has been provided wherein the excess solar units will be fed into the power supply grid and can be offset as and when required |
