| Project Detail : | The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved the continuation of four programmes under its Integrated Child Development Scheme until November 2018. The four schemes estimated to benefit 11 crore mothers and kids include anganwadi services, the programme for adolescent girls called Sabla, Child Protection Services and the National Creche Scheme The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval for continuation of Anganwadi Services, Scheme for Adolescent Girls, Child Protection Services and National Crèche Scheme from April 1, 2017 to November 30,2018 with an outlay of over Rs 41,000 crore. These are the sub-schemes under Umbrella Scheme "Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS)," said government in a statement The National Nutrition Mission, along with four schemes under the ICDS, is estimated to cost the government Rs 41,000 crores until November 2018. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs also approved phased expansion of the scheme for out of school girls in the age group of 11-14 years The Cabinet also decided to convert the National Creche Scheme from a programme implemented and entirely funded by the central government to a centrally-sponsored scheme with 60:40 cost sharing with states, 90:10 with north-eastern region and the Himalayan States and 100 per cent with the Union Territories The programme through targeted interventions will strive to reduce the level of malnutrition anaemia and low birth weight babies, ensure empowerment of adolescent girls, provide protection to the children who are in conflict with law, provide safe place for day-care to the children of working mothers, create synergy, ensure better monitoring, issue negative alerts for timely action, encourage States/UTs to perform, guide and supervise the line Ministries and States/UTs to achieve the targeted goals and bring more transparency," said the statement |
