| Project Detail : | The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has accorded terms of reference (ToR) for the proposed integrated steel plant at Bellary district in Karnataka The project by Vedanta is a 5.26 million tpa capacity coal-based captive power plant of 450 MW at K B Halli, Chaganuru, Siriwara, Bevinahalli in Ballari district of Karnataka The plant will spread over 980.62 ha of land. Of this, 284 ha of land is in possession of Vedanta; the remaining will be acquired The project will be developed in two phases. The plant will be equipped with a coke oven complex, sinter plant, pellet plant, and a blast furnace among others. The ore for the plant will be procured from Bellary-Hospet region, Karnataka The estimated power requirement for the plant will be 450 MW. A captive power plant of 3x150 MW has been envisaged to meet the power requirement for the proposed plant The project will entail an investment of Rs 30,000 crore and will generate direct employment for 10,000 people and indirect employment for 20,000-30,000 people |
